The D.A.R.E. Summer Ball took
place at The Nottingham Belfry
on Thursday 23rd July 2009
(7:00pm - 1:00am). It was a great
evening, our aim of course was to
raise money for the charity alongside
having some fun after the Golf Day.
After our prize giving ceremony we
had a short Q & A session with
our special guests. Lewis Moody, England
and Tigers Rugby player, and Chris
Broad, ex England cricketer and current
match referee, joined me on the stage
for some questions from the audience
and a bit of banter.
Later on we auctioned 9 items in
total donated by various companies
including F & C, Sean Morris from
the PCA who donated Ashes tickets
and Callaway who generously donated
customised clubs for the auction and
not only doubled it but trebled it
when we had 3 high bidders! Orion
Engineering donated their Manchester
United box for a game and Lewis Moody
also gave us some tickets to a Rugby
game at Twickenham which again last
minute went for a generous amount.
Thank you to them all.
The evening was nicely rounded off
by our live act The Bogus Brothers
and some dancing! It was a late night
but worth while and I hope that D.A.R.E.
UK will be as proud as I am of our
first evening event.
