An
update is long overdue but I have been a bit hectic
trying to find my golf game. The good news is I have
and it's been a good few weeks recently where I have
consistently played the best golf of my year.
Austria was a good tournament and the first time since
the Middle East that I got going and had some flow into
my golf.
I was pleased to carry it forward to the Dunhill which
is always one of my favourite tournaments. Three cracking
golf courses and fortunately pretty good weather this
year made for a good week and a happy walk up the last
few holes at St Andrews on Sunday. I played very well
in stretches and hit a lot of shots dead which really
shows how much my game has improved recently.
My partner was Moses Nsagaong (a great guy) and after
a promising start we stuttered and ended up missing
the team cut by a shot due to a last hole bogey from
us both. I was gutted as I've never done that well in
the team tournament and would love to contend. Its a
dream of mine to win at St Andrews so it must be an
amazing feeling for an amateur to be able to walk those
last few holes at St Andrews in contention in tournament
conditions, if not a little nerve racking!
From there I was in Madrid and played my best golf for
four rounds this year, I could only muster a top 20
but let's just say it's not the fairest of golf courses
and leave it at that! A bit of work on my short game
should have me in good shape for Portugal this week.
Before I get to Portugal though I have a quick stop
off in Switzerland for the Hugo Boss Cup. A sponsor
day where all the Boss staff players get together and
play with guests of Hugo Boss. They always look after
us great so it will be a fun but long day before jumping
on a plane to Faro to prepare for the Portugal Masters.
I feel like I have some real momentum going into the
end of the season. Physically I'm better than ever which
is good to know. I've done some good work and tests
over the past few weeks with my trainer Rob to make
sure I'm fully fit after my early season illnesses and
the conclusions were great. This will be crucial for
the end of season where I am in the middle of playing
14 out of 16 weeks all over the world.
Hopefully I'll be adding one more at the end in Dubai!
