TOUR // 2007
//
RANKING No.30 |
In 2007
Oliver stepped up and the work he had
been doing with Pete Cowen really kicked
in. A final ranking of 30th on the tour,
a place on the winning GB & I team
in the Seve Trophy and two runner up
finishes in two of the years big tournaments
represented his most successful year
so far. His year was very consistent
missing only five cuts from twenty eight
events with eleven top twenty-five finishes.
Unfortunately it was another winless
year but it is only a matter of time
until they start coming.

TOUR // 2006
//
RANKING
No.71 |
The 2006
season started very well with a second
place finish in the Volvo China Open,
losing to Paul Casey in a play-off.
Oliver continued his good play until
returning to Europe where his form dropped
and he was unable to secure his goals
of a maiden tour win and a place in
the Volvo Masters. Despite this, the
season was very productive and Oliver
finished on a positive note when he
stepped up all aspects of his game by
working with new coach Pete Cowen and
signing on with his new fitness coordinator
Faye Downey.

| ROOKIE
EUROPEAN TOUR //
2005
// RANKING No.97 |
Oliver's
rookie season on tour was a lot stronger
than his final ranking position of 97th
suggests. He led three times and was
in contention five times during the
Sunday rounds, which in turn gave him
a lot of experience for the future.
It was somewhat disappointing for Oliver
to not have posted a victory at the
conclusion of such good play in his
first season, but those experiences
put him in good shape for the 2006 season.

| ROOKIE
CHALLENGE TOUR //
2004
// RANKING No.15 |
Oliver
began the year with no status and relied
on sponsors' invites into early Challenge
Tour events. After leading his debut
tournament in Panama at the halfway
stage he continued to play well throughout
2004, gaining temporary status for the
year after a second place finish in
Italy. He completed the season with
an 8th place finish at the Challenge
Tour Grand Final, which concluded a
successful rookie season and secured
a European Tour Card for 2005.

Oliver
was struggling with his game coming
into the Walker Cup and was not included
in the first day's morning foursomes,
but went on to play the remaining three
matches. He led the team out in the
singles against Tripp Keuhne, where
Keuhne holed a 6-footer to half the
match on the 18th. The following day
Oliver partnered with Gary Wolstenholme
in the top match and got the GB&I
team off to a fortifying start in the
morning foursomes when they won comfortably
against their American opponents 5 &
3. With GB&I still trailing going
into the afternoon singles, Oliver once
again led the team out and scraped a
crucial victory against fellow collegiate
player and now PGA tour player Bill
Haas on the last hole. Oliver was unbeaten
acquiring 2 ½ points from 3.
GB&I went on to defeat the American
squad 12½ to 11½ for a
record-breaking hat trick of victories.

After
working his way up through the County
Teams and into the England Boys Team,
Oliver was offered a golf scholarship
in America, becoming a member of the
Augusta State University [ASU] Jaguars
from 2000-2003. During this time he
improved significantly becoming the
No.1 ranked collegiate player during
his senior year. On the way to the top
of the rankings Oliver recorded 4 tournament
titles and was a 3 time All-American.
