In 2006
Oliver pledged his support to the National
Anti Drugs Charity, Dare UK. Dare is
the British arm of a worldwide educational
programme now taught in 55 countries,
which provide recipients with the knowledge
and skills to avoid harmful drugs, including
alcohol and tobacco. DARE actively promotes
the use of healthy sporting activities
during and outside the school environment.
The key message is to promote healthy
living and making positive life affirming
choices in relation to drugs, violence,
tobacco, alcohol and other harmful substances,
as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle. The
purpose of the various programmes are
to develop a sense of responsibility
in children and adolescents, and give
them the skills to identify and withstand
peer pressure.
