DIARY // THE LONGEST WEEK OF MY LIFE // 26th June 2009

That was officially the longest week of my life. The US Open at Bethpage Black was a great experience, a real tough test. The golf course was very hard and combined with awful weather made it the toughest test of my career so far with all the rain delays and what goes with it.

It was a very positive week, my best finish in a major which was good although I thought it should have been better. I was a little disappointed as my goal was to finish in the Top 10 and with 4 holes to go I was in tenth position. I dropped a few coming in but all in all it was a very positive week.

My ball striking was as good as it's ever been on the first few days, especially my iron play which was very good considering I just started working with a new coach. The putting was a lot better than it's been in the last few months, still a lot of improving to be done but it's well on the way to being back at the level it was last year.

So this week I'm going to take a few days to rest and get ready for the French Open and leading up to the British Open where, fingers crossed, I can put in a better performance and try and contend coming down Sunday afternoon.
