DIARY // THE OPEN // 23rd July 2007

When I first saw the draw I was very pleased. 6:30am on the Carnoustie links has to be a good draw, benign conditions and pure greens would be great. However, when I got to the course at 5:00am it was a different story. Torrential rain and wind was not what the doctor ordered and 2 hours after tee off when the conditions cheered up my open chances where gone. It was a shame as for the last 27 holes of my championship I played really solid but just couldnt hole enough putts to give myself a chance of playing the weekend.

Although after thursday I was very dissapointed, the way I played on friday made the tournament fun and left me looking forward to my last tournament of a long six week stretch. This week i am in hamburg trying to end the long run on a high at the Deutshe Bank Players Championship, after that it will be to the sunshine of the US for a few weeks to relax and prepare for the final stint of the 07 season!

Congrats to Gill Mottershaw for winning the British Open T shirt and a signed program.
