DIARY // PORTUGAL // 19th October 2009

I have just got back from the Portuguese Masters at the Oceanica Victoria Golf Club. The weather was brilliant and the golf course was very good, unfortunately the greens were in bad condition but apart from that it was a great event.

I played with Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomery and Lee Westwood, the eventual winner the first couple of days which was all good fun.

I am very disappointed in finishing tied 19th in the end especially after such a good day on Saturday shooting 8 under low round of the year to get up into 5th position. To follow that with a 1 over on Sunday was very disappointing but that's golf. I didn't put well all week, I struggled a little bit with my swing sometimes but I actually felt like I played quite steady on Sunday. I just couldn't hole a putt and had a few bad breaks.

Overall I guess it's a steady week and top 20 when not everything went well so that was ok.

I have got a week off now before heading to Spain for the Volvo World Match Play which is a limited field, top 16 from various categories. Basically 16 of the best players from all over the world meeting in one place and I will be there for a week before heading out to Asia for the final 3 tournaments of the year.
