DIARY // BETTER BUT NOT ENOUGH // 18th January 2009

This has been my best effort at the Abu Dhabi Championship so far, however that's not saying much as 37th is not quite what I was after. The greens are very tricky as they are thick with grain and I am improving on them all the time, but not fast enough. The course is also a long hitter's paradise at 7500 yards. I am capable of a good result here but I need to be firing on all cylinders to get to the top of the table. Two very solid rounds and two not so good left me frustrated and with some work to do before next week in Qatar, but all in all the game is in reasonable shape.

The field next week is one of the strongest ever assembled on the European Tour and one which would be great to play well at. I am feeling good physically and hopefully after a couple of good practice days I will be back to business trying to win that elusive maiden victory.
