DIARY // THE SHOW MUST GO ON // 09th March 2008

On my return to Delhi I had high expectations, however they were dashed after a few snap hooks and grainy greens that were harder to figure out than a rubix cube. It was a long week in which the goal felt like staying healthy more than playing good golf. I thought I had at least achieved the healthy part until arriving in Malaysia to fall ill from something I collected in India. I think over the two week trip there must have been at least 30 people who fell ill, but the show must go on and after withdrawing from the pro am I felt like I was getting back on track. As if the stifling humidity wasn't enough I didn't need to be ill!

Come Thursday I had done a lot of reflecting on my game and realized that I had been overlooking the basics and with a few different swing thoughts I was able to hit it straight again. My first round was one of the best rounds I have had in a long time, I hit 18 greens in regulation and hit it stone dead on three occasions, a couple of two putt greens on par fives and a six footer added up to a simple 66. It seamed so easy! That is until Friday came along and I realized how well I played the previous day. I was hitting the ball ok but the putter was very very dry. The same theme continued over the weekend and frustration built as I couldn't get past 8 under for the tournament and I ended up finishing on minus 5 for a disappointing finish... again.

So I am now sat in KL airport trying to take the positives from this past week and looking for a good tournament to end this 3 week stretch. I am flying to South Korea through the night via Hong Kong and Seoul. India was a new experience and I am glad I have been there, however, I won't be back anytime soon. Korea will again be a new place to see, I am looking forward to moving on there and hopefully it won't be as cold as everyone is saying, going from 40 degrees to 5 degrees is a little extreme!
