DIARY // DESERT SWING // 03rd February 2009

I managed to end the desert swing on a positive note with a final round 66 in Dubai. Overall it has been my best effort yet out at the Emirates but I am a little disappointed not to have done better. Tee to green I have played very solid for the 3 weeks but the putter has let me down quite badly on this trip. It started to come together in Dubai when I left the grainier greens of Abu Dhabi and Qatar behind but this is something I need to work on for the coming tournaments, especially the WGC in Doral which I hear are very grainy. I have picked a few peoples mind about it and realised that because I naturally tend to putt dead weight, as the ball loses its speed the grain snatches it away from the hole, I think I need to adapt and putt firmer at the hole like the South African and Asian payers tend to do. We will see how this works out come March in Miami.

I now have two weeks back in London where it looks like I will be restrained to my house to stay warm and avoid the snow before starting my US trip which begins in LA before the World Matchplay. Stay warm...
