DIARY // HAPPY NEW YEAR! // 03rd January 2010

Well there goes another year! I hope that you all had a great Christmas and New Year and I wish everyone all the best for 2010.

Its time for me to start getting back to practice, as I have had 5 weeks off since Dubai which is the longest time off in my career to date. Its been great not having to fly around and actually just spending time at home and catching up with everyone. Lauren and I went skiing in Val D'Isere which was great fun for a week then when we came home we had some time in London with friends and generally doing all the stuff that we don't get time to do during the season. Its been a good time, I've really enjoyed it.

Its time now though to get back on it! I started hitting balls, in the cold, a couple of days ago… its not much fun and I wish I was in sunnier climates but before I know it I will be there as I'm heading to Dubai on Jan 13th to do some practice before Abu Dhabi.

I'm pretty excited about things this year. I really feel that my whole game and my team around me are all working in the right direction and I feel closer than ever now to breaking through to a win.

On my team, I have got Dale who is my physio. He's helped me a lot to get to the bottom of my neck injury so we've been doing a lot of work on that. Hugh Marr is my coach who has helped me manage my game immensely. We have worked a lot since June 2009 with my swing, in fact when I started practicing a couple of days ago after 5 weeks off, I felt that my swing was the same as when I finished the season and that I just need to get a bit of timing back.

I've just started working with Paul Hurrion on my putting. We started working just before Christmas so that I could do some practice over the holidays and I have done a little. More importantly though I feel that I have more structure and a blueprint to return to when things aren't going quite right. So now I feel that things are really coming together and that I have just the right team around me.

Rich, my caddie, will be starting again with me in Abu Dhabi and that will be our 6th year together. Obviously we are both pretty excited and hopefully we'll have a big year this year. Our goals are to try and qualify for the Ryder Cup obviously and also to have at least one win, 2 or 3 would be even better and I feel that I am ready to do that. Another goal is to improve on my world ranking, I'd like to try and break into the top 20 in the world this year and on the Race to Dubai and try and improve and to contend for the title in Dubai at the end of this year. It's a pity about last year, I feel that if I would have had a better event in Hong Kong then I would have been in contention for Dubai but it wasn't meant to be.

So for now I have a couple of weeks of practice and then we will be off again. I wish you all the very best for 2010 and a huge thank you for your continued support.
